The Chances of a Dem Majority in the Senate in 2020

Most analysts agree that the Democrats’ chances of carrying out their agenda after 2020 (regardless of which party is in the White House) will depend on whether they can become the majority party in the Senate.  If the Republicans are still the majority party in the Senate, Mitch McConnell will continue to block bills.  

Currently, there is a consensus that even though there are many more Republican  seats open in 2020 (Republicans have to defend 22 seats while Dems only have to defend 12), only 3 Republican seats are up for grabs:  Maine, Colorado, Arizona.  The other 19 Republican seats are in RED areas, including 1 seat Democratic seat (Alabama).  (more)
