For the first time in my life, I am not a racial minority when I move to Johns Creek, Georgia. People from myriad cultures, ethnicities, religions, and nationalities deem this patch of earth home. Persian and Indian markets bookend strip malls. Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Korean, and Chinese restaurants perch on the corners of major intersections.  (read more)

About 15 years ago, there was white flight from Cupertino--white people either moved to the Homestead school district or sent their kids to private schools, fearing competition from Asians. That's why white people are "extremely rare" as you said. As a student who ...Read more attends a competitive school in Cupertino, with Lynbrook being the neighbor school, this article intrigued me. The article also mentioned the competition among Asians because of racial inequality in college admissions. So far, I have not noticed white people relocating themselves (partially because white people are extremely rare). However, I did notice the opposite. Growing up, attending not-the-most competitive elementary and middle school, many Asian students (including my friends) would either change schools to private or move into a competitive area, such as Cupertino.
