I have never really considered where my political stance is. I am not the type of person to purposely try and get into that topic with my friends or just people in general. Although, looking at just three values of both the conservitive side and liberal side, I would say I am more liberal because it matches more with my values.

I believe that everyone should have access to healthcare because it is important to know whether you are healthy or not. Having restrictions on healthcare makes the government seem selfish and it seems like they do not care for the citizens of America. Meanwhile, as this has been a large topic on social media, I believe women should have the right to choose whether they want to have a child or not. It is their body and choice, not America’s. Just like we have the right of our privacy, this is a private choice that women are making and they should not let the government control them. And finally, gun ownership. Even though people might complain that they have the right to do whatever they want with a gun, it is important that the government keeps track of it, not only for the safety of the owner of the gun, but for the people of America. Kids should not have to be scared of going to school or even adults going to work. By not having control of who owns a gun, we are going to end up living in a world of fear. Is that fair? Shouldn’t we have the freedom of enjoying ourselves instead of living in fear?

So to end this, why am I considering myself as a liberal? Well, it seems like all of the values of conservatives makes the government seem selfish and it turns America into a fearful place. I respect the opinion of conservatives because I know that they too have their own reasons, but that their opinion just does not fit mine.
