Despite the horrors of the worldwide epidemic that we are all facing, the corona virus has surprisingly benefited our world in many different ways. Prior to the outbreak of this virus, the earth was not being taken good care, which really harmed the environment. For example, pollution and littering were major problems that were present around the whole world. After countries began to initiate lockdowns, there has been a great difference in how the world looks. Because people have only been able to go outside for essential things like grocery shopping, the earth is looking much healthier. Take the rivers in Italy, for instance. When the streets were filled with both citizens and masses of tourists from all around the globe, the rivers were opaque and visibly not clean. After only a few days of quarantine, the rivers cleared up and are pretty much transparent! Another great example is Beijing, China. Beijing is known as one of the most polluted cities in the world, and even it has made remarkable progress on its environment. Although the corona virus is hard to see as a good thing, during these stressful times it may be beneficial to look on the bright side of this pandemic.

Yes, let's hope that this cleaner, healthier environment will be a wake-up call for people around the world, so that when this pandemic is over, people will be more reluctant to return to the toxic environment that is the inevitable consequence of burning fossil fuels.
