The Founder

I find this movie to be very interesting and unforgettable. After visiting McDonald's for so many years, I never really grasped the history of how the concept of this fast-food restaurant was so favorable.

In the late 1980s, the idea of "fast food" had never existed before. Usually, when customers arrive at local diners, they would wait in the cars, often for an hour until their food arrives. Sometimes, the food would be way overpriced, dissatisfying many. Ray Croc, the milkshake machine vendor, was annoyed at how long it took the restaurants to cook up hearty meals for the customers; he experienced that kind of prolonged, dreadful wait himself. He wanted to find a business that would produce food instantly for customers at a fraction of the price.

What I thought was the most interesting in the movie is the very first McDonald's in the US, and this was the only restaurant that served food to customers within seconds of payment. I was intrigued in the way that the restaurant crew followed a process where their food production ran smoothly.

Another interesting part of the movie is the fact that Croc franchised the McDonald's business by opening restaurants all across the business. By using cheaper ingredients and still applying the speedy system to get food out as fast as possible, Croc made the right decision in spreading this business all across the US. While the original founders of the company didn't prefer spreading their business( due to previous failed attempts in doing so), Croc ignored them and became extremely successful and wealthy, eventually receiving the title as founder of McDonald's.

Hi Victor: Your comments on The Founder are interesting but I would like you to think about other aspects of the fast food phenomenon, especially the impact on society and people's health. Check out this book: Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. I am going to post the book in the Reviews ...Read more sectio Less
