Second Harvest

I volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank at least twice a year, and after every time I become even more grateful for how fortunate I am. This organization’s goal is to ensure that everybody in local communities gets the meals and food that they need to survive. During these events, volunteers help sort and pack different foods and drinks into different boxes that would then be sent out to those who are in need of it. I think that this is a great thing to do as there are many families that seek food in the Silicon Valley. Personally, I never had to worry about these things and I am extremely thankful for that. Volunteering at the food bank helped me become more aware about the struggles that many people are going through that I may not have truly acknowledged or thought about before. Therefore, I think that these volunteer opportunities made me more perceptive and passionate about the issues.
