My Passion

All throughout my fifteen years of living, I have always dreaded the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I never really knew what I was passionate about, and I always felt behind when people I knew practically had their whole life set out for them. Although I'm still not completely sure, I think I did find something that I like—architecture. I have always admired things like buildings, skyscrapers, and bridges.
I think I also found this out in my geometry class at school. Everything I learned in class just kind of clicked. Finding lengths, volumes, surface area, and things like that came pretty easily, and I ended the class with over 100%. However, I do know that I have to do a lot more to achieve this goal of mine, not just complete a high school geometry class. For example, I would have to graduate college with a bachelor's or master's degree and also get some sort of internship related to architecture. I recognize that this is a lot of work and can be very stressful, but I would do anything to achieve this goal of mine. To do this, I will have to have a lot of determination and grit.
Another thing that really sparked my interest in architecture is my uncle. He actually is an architect and has helped design different buildings. I would always see his work and just be in awe that his drawings could turn into 40-story buildings. I also learned that he spends a lot of time interacting with other people, which is really cool, because I do enjoy working with others. I also understand that the career choice can come with a lot of pressure. You have to consider a multiplicity of factors when designing a building. For instance, you have to think about the money and resources needed, things like earthquakes, and what kind of building to design.
In the end, architecture is definitely not an easy job to manage, but with my grit I will hopefully be able to achieve this goal.
