I find it simultaneously interesting and not surprising that most Americans do not trust the healthcare system. I have seen many people online joke about how America's health system is too expensive and debilitating for patients but always thought that that demographic was a small part of the ...Read more US population. I also find it interesting that the people celebrated for making a difference during Covid in Australia. In America, social media portrays scientists, like Dr. Fauci, as heroes. I think this may have caused Americans to feel more detached from the health system and that their efforts would not provide any help. Less

I agree with the New York Times article. One of the reasons that US didn't do so well in the COVID 19 pandemic was because there was not enough trust between people and the government. People were doubtful about vaccines, or that coronavirus was even existent. People didn't understand that ...Read more the world didn't revolve around them, and wondered why some of the mandates were put into place. People were skeptical about the vaccines and sometimes partied in the pandemic(if they were not in the high-risk categories). Australia's citizens trusted each other. They informed the prime minister because they thought that there was a risk. People wore masks and got vaccinated because they trusted the government and trusted each other to do so. They were considerate towards each other and willing to lend out a helping hand to those in need Less
