1. The article revolves around China's zero-covid policy. As the article states, the zero-covid policy is losing its effectiveness. I agree with the main point of this article because the strict lockdowns that they order are not beneficial and aren't the most efficient way to lower the ...Read more spread of Covid, as it develops and moves more quickly than we can identify. 2. I don't think the draconian policy is sustainable because it's not efficient and takes too much money to support. If I had to live under this system, I would be tired of all the lockdowns and would feel uncomfortable with being locked down in public places with other people Less

1. The author's main point is that China's Covid policy is not the best way to reduce the amount of covid cases because of how fast the virus could spread. I support what the author said because I think that having a lot of lockdowns won't be very effective. 2. I think that it would ...Read more depend where the draconian policy is put in place. For example, countries such as Taiwan or korea, a draconian policy was put into place in the beginning of the pandemic and they were doing much better than the US where no one really followed any policies because Americans value there freedom more than lowering covid cases. 1. The author's main point is that China's current zero Covid policy is unattainable and is going to cause disaster for China. I agree with the author in that the zero Covid policy is unrealistic especially with the extremely transmittable Omicron variant. As the author states, the Omicron ...Read more variant would spread to many cities and locking-down each one of them would ruin the economy for both China and the world. 2. I think the zero Covid policy would not be sustainable in the midst of the Omicron variant. It might have worked for the Delta variant but I feel that the policy should be adapted. Sending possible infected people all back to an office, like that which was described in the article, would cause more infections than it would prevent. And with the Omicron variant likely to show up more and more, these lockdowns would likely cause many outbreaks. If I had to live under such a system, I would have a kit or something to bring with me to these holding sites. This is because it seems no matter what I do to avoid the virus, I would still end up in those sites and being prepared to inevitably get sent to one would be helpful Less

1a. The main point of the piece is that China’s zero covid policy is not going to be effective against Covid. I agree with this and I believe that they shouldn’t have that many pointless lockdowns. I believe their rule of making sure foreigners quarantine themselves is acceptable since it is ...Read more their choice of whether or not to go to China, but making their own citizens endlessly quarantine is not okay because they’re being stripped of their own rights and aren’t even allowed to go home. 2a. I do not think it is sustainable because people are not going to like it and people are not being allowed to go out or even go to their homes where they live. If i had to live under this system, I would definitely want to move out and I would also want to retaliate. To adapt, I would stay at home as much as possible and bring food around with me every where I go Less
