Land use changes compromise the environment where we live. The changes replace woodland, grasslands, and wetlands with housing, asphalt and offices. These changes dispace habitat and compromise the abiilty of the land to respond to stress. Floods occur when the landward migration of wetlands are arrested by development. Zoonotic transferss occur from human intrusion into wilderness. Fires breakout at the wildlands urban interface. These events now constitute the New Normal. This book group looks to advocate for restoring ecosystem services to landscapes by reducing the human development footprint.
