The Caldor, Dixie, and Ida news provide an ominous feeling of impeding doom. Every year the sense of doom grows larger. And yet it appears as if we are growing more complacent. My nephews put on a block part and talent show on Tuesday night. We went to their Concord home to show support. The air quality indicator showed 91 which is unhealth- by way of contrast Tahoe is currently 600. We decided to wear our N95 masks. We ended up being the only masked guest among 50. The rest said they didn't smell it anymore after three weeks of smoke!

We need a Green New Deal now. It should be massive, green, and across all social spectrums. A public investment in disinvestment that protects vulnerable and traditinally pollututed communities. Now is the right time to start to abolish carbon from BIPOC communities. Now is the right time to prevent settlement patterns into threatened lands and waters- Lake Tahoe shouldn't have to deal with a traffic jam on top of days of evacuation warnings. Now is the right time to rethink jobs and housing! Use existing technology to create clean healthy communities now.

Every year the new normal creates more climate refugees amidst a housing crisis! We don't need to know how we reached the biggest fire or hurricane or drought of all time. We need to fix our climate and get back to the water and food situation that existed at 350 ppm of CO2. Adding to the carbon problem is suicidal to frontline communities and to the only planet we live on. Stop line 3. Don’t turn on gulf oil and gas operations. Build existing renewable solutions now the way Tesla is doing in California and Texas. Withdraw from threatened lands and waters and restore them under 30x30 before our insurance systems collapse.
