Asian American stereotypes

  1. Like African Americans, Asian Americans have also experienced racism. One of the most well known examples of racism is the internment camps that sprung up during world war 2. With people with German, Italian and Japanese ethnicity all confined, but eventually, those of German and Italian ethnicities were released, however, Japanese Americans were still confined due to people “not being able to know their loyalty”. Also due to Asian Americans being branded as a model minority, the everyday racism that Asian Americans experience was also downplayed. Like African Americans, many Asian Americans are being called racist names. Both of these minorities were also excluded in becoming well known citizens with many of their accomplishments being nearly non-existent. More importantly, with the COVID-19 pandemic, hate crimes with Asian Americans have been rising. This can range from attacks on elderly or outright name calling. For many African Americans, this is very common with the same thing happening to them. In conclusion, both Adsian Americans and African Americans experience the same form of racism in American.
