Here we are in 2016, with the Golden State Warriors having a historic year winning 73 games and only losing 9 games that season. They were in talks of being the greatest team in history with the leadership of Stephen Curry and beating the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls with their record of 72 wins and 10 losses in a season. Here they were, in the 2016 NBA Finals against their longtime opponent Lebron James and Kyrie Irving and their Cleveland Cavaliers. I sit in my living room with my family as we watch the games. Warriors take Game 1, then Game 2. The Cavaliers manage to take Game 3, and the Warriors strike back by taking Game 4, now leading the Finals with a 3-1 lead. Me and my family talk about how it is going to be a historic year for the Warriors, having the best record in NBA history and then winning the NBA Finals to top that. However little would we know about the Cavaliers’ historic run. They would go on to take Game 5, then Game 6, and now out of nowhere it seemed that we were now in Game 7, and the Cavaliers managed to tie up the series making it 3-3. Game 7 was a complete nail-biter, with the Warriors having home court advantage. There they were, with 2 minutes left of the 4th quarter, tied 89-89. Curry gives it to Iguodala, and out of nowhere, we hear the announcer say “Blocked by James!”. Me and my family all knew the Warriors were in trouble after that. With the crowd on its feet and cheering loud for the Warriors, Irving brings up the ball and hits a devastating dagger three over Curry, which would be one of the last plays before the Cavaliers made history being the only team in the NBA Finals to ever overcome a 3-1 lead. My family and everyone on TV sat in awe asIrving iced the game, and everyone knew that the Cavaliers had made history and beat arguably the greatest team in NBA history and came back from a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.
